I had a meeting with the Greater Dallas Vietnamese American community leaders and the boy scouts about the upcoming moon festival on October 7th before getting to the Westin Galleria for the DFWAACC banquet.
Clayton Fong, the executive director of the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging was the keynote speaker at our DFWAACC annual banquet tonight. Clayton had served on the 2005 White House Conference on Aging. It's not hard to see why. He is passionate about senior services, especially for Asian American seniors in particular and non native English speakers in general, who might be conversant in English but still think in another language. This becomes obvious in his father's case, who is in mid stage of Alzheimer. There are more bad days than good days for his dad these days, and his dad communicated on those bad days in Chinese only.
Now that another successful banquet is behind, I can fully focus on the next event, the VPS Film Festival.
