Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat. --- Theodore Roosevelt

Here is where I am. I agree with the president on the war, in Iraq and Afghanistan and wherever else that US special forces are cleaning out the terrorists. I am very appreciative of the president for his appointments of strict constructionist to the bench. However, I am very disappointed with the president and a Republican congress unable to get the tax cut permanent and reform Social Security with personalization. I strongly disagree with the president on his legalization of illegal immigrants. How many of you Republicans, both fiscal and social conservative, out there stand where I stand with regard to the president's policies?

Is that what we are doing in Iraq? Fighting Terrorism? I'm not sure about spending 450 billion dollars to fight a lost cause.....Vietnam was a lost cause....Iraq is a lost cause...I think where we need to be is here...I can come up with a couple things to do with 450 billion to help our OWN problems here in the US.
Remember that you have to be alive to spend the money. Do you think if we leave all those al Quieda jihadists alone, they would go back and be peaceful farmers? Read the Arab Human Development Report.
We need to kill the terrorists, as many and as fast as we can in the short term. For the long term, we need to eliminate the conditions that manufacture these terrorists.
450 billion dollars spent so far...they estimate another 500 billion. US has other problems that we need to attend to at home...where it matters most...I got robbed at gun point a couple months ago...Houston's crime is up because of Katrina....Bridges are bad......Levies are bad....Texas Plubic school systems are some of the worst in the united states. One trillion dollars can help with all those problems....we can't defend the whole world...no one pays us to....
Also, if we step back and look at the beginning of the Iraq war as someone beside a US citizen...lets say a Saudi....What was the point of entering Iraq....WMD Bush said right? We have to disarm Iraq? Have we found any WMDs? Or did we just stepped into someone's country and killed their leader cuz we can. Who's next? I'm not saying Saddam is a good dude..I think he deserved it...but what about North Korea.....why dont' we go disarm them? We're not so tough when we know they have real WMDs.
Last point on the subject.....I agree we have to defend from having terrist attacks on our home front. But, trying to kill all the terriost in the world? Thats just not realistic. Our boys fight because some commander tells them to....Terrorist do it cuz they think they will go to heaven. They fight for their beliefs....we fight because someone tells us too...we lose..simple as that. Why did we we lose the war in Vietnam? I mean dang it we are the most powerful country in the world. The US troops didn't care as much as the VCs did thats why we lost. Talking about fighting Iraq is easy...when you are not there...or have family over there...Its easy because you will never go to war...cuz of your education or whatever reason....We fight really isn't "We"....we fight is really the lower class americans that get recruited...Do they have a say? Or is it just yes sir no sir? "Go die for your country!" "YES SIR!!!"
