Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat. --- Theodore Roosevelt

Jim Parks, executive director of the North Texas Municipal Water District addressed the Dallas County North Republican Club tonight regarding long term planning for our water needs. According to Jim, we need more representation both on the House Natural Resources Committee and the Senate Natural Resources Committee. Currently, the north Texas region has over 5 millions people, roughly 25% of the 21 millions Texas population, but we have only 1 in 11 state senators on the Senate side, senator Craig Estes, and 1 in 9 state representatives on the House side, state representative Charlie Geren. The opportunity is there, at least on the Senate side since senator Todd Staples is running for the Agriculture Commissioner seat and senator Gonzales Barrientos is not running for re-election.
